Young Chemist’s Wintergreen oil is extracted from leaves of wintergreen through steam distillation. Wintergreen oil is used for severe conditions like headache, nerve pain, arthritis, and menstrual cramps. It can also be used for digestion problems like stomach aches. Most people use it in small doses of oil to improve stomach liquids and improve digestion. Sometimes, wintergreen oil can be applied directly to the skin as a wash for sore muscles, or lower back pain.

Wintergreen oil is applied to the skin as a counter-irritant to get relief from muscle pain. The counter-irritants present in oil work by reducing pain and swelling in the tissue. Also, wintergreen oil is used to kill germs present on the skin.

Blends well with:

Peppermint oil, Lavender oil, and Eucalyptus oil

  • To moisturize, dilute 1-2 drops of wintergreen oil in a body lotion or foot cream for application to stiff, aching muscles.
  • Add 1-2 drops of wintergreen oil to regular shampoo and apply to the hair to prevent hair loss, to remove dirt, microbes, dandruff, and excess oil.
  • To eliminate bacteria that cause acne and reduce inflammation, add 1-2 drops of Wintergreen Essential Oil to a regular face wash and apply it to the face, as usual, avoiding contact with the eyes.
  • For the respiratory system, 1-2 drops of wintergreen oil can be diluted in carrier oil and applied to the chest to relieve symptoms of colds and the flu, such as coughing and congestion.

  • Wintergreen oil also contains some antioxidants and beneficial ingredients, including guanidines, delta 3-carene, limonene, and delta-cadinene.
  • Wintergreen is safe in small amounts. Wintergreen is somewhere safe when the leaves are used as medicine. Wintergreen oil is probably not safe to be taken by mouth.
  • Wintergreen oil can cause nausea, vomiting, headache, stomach pain, and confusion if consumed through the mouth.
